Notes on MARION FRANKLIN ANDERSON
Raised near Smithville, GA. His father, a Confederate solider, was killed in the war leaving a widow, 2 small boys and a girl. Came to Union Springs in 1877, worked in the hardware of Mr. Glover. When Mr. Glover sold out his business and left, Mr. Anderson returned to his home in Georgia, but came back to Union Springs in 1878 and entered business with Mr. John Hunter. Since that time he has been in the hardware business here either by himself or in partnership with other parties.

In 1880 Mr, Anderson married Miss Emma Hunter. He has one sister, Mrs. J. N. Welch of Chula, GA. and one brother, Mr. J. J. Anderson of West Point GA.

Mr. Anderson was Presbyterian, and a Mason. He died 8 January 1914 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery. Smithville is in Lee Co., just south of the Sumter Co. line and about 15 miles north of Albany, which is in Dougherty Co., just south of the Lee Co. line.
