The little girl is me and the man is my Uncle Burt - Burt Williamson, husband of
Anna Elba (Rhodes) Williamson, my mother's sister. He was just about my
most favorite person in the world! But the interesting thing about the
picture is the setting. It was probably taken about 1938 in a
little diner that Uncle Burt had at that time in Higginsville, MO. My mother
worked there doing a lot of the cooking. She said she never
worked so hard in her entire life! I look like a little orphan girl
because my Grandfather Rhodes was babysitting (before he got sick-he died in
Feb. 1939), and Mother said that he would bring me to the diner, often with my
dress on backwards and my shoes on the wrong feet. Although I mostly grew
up in Georgia, we did live in Missouri for a couple of years.
