WILL OF MOSES SIMPSON (son of Richard, Sr. & Sarah Simpson)

The last will and Testament of MOSES SIMPSON THE ELDER this 7th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven First of all I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW RICHARD SIMPSON SON OF MY BROTHER GEORGE SIMPSON Two hundred and four acres of land lying both sides of South run, also another tract of land of twenty seven and a half acres that I bought of Thomzin Ellzey.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW AARON SIMPSON the residue of the abovementioned tract of four hundred and four acres.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW WILLM. SIMPSON my Mill and tract of land whereon it stands also one hundred & twenty acres adjoining it that I bought of John Raily.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW JAMES SIMPSON all the tract of land which I bought of Harrison Manly and Samuel Tillett being one hundred and ninety six acres.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEWS GEORGE & JOSEPH SIMPSON all the tract of land known by the Calico Tract of three hundred and twenty three acres to be equally divided between them.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW RICHARD SIMPSON SON OF MY BROTHER RICHARD SIMPSON in Carolina the following slaves to wit (4 named).


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEASE LIBBY HALLEY one negro wench.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW RICHARD WINDSOR one Negro wench.


Item I will and bequeath to SAVORY JACOBS the following slaves to wit (4 named), I leave my negroes Abner, Easter and Let free to work and do for themselves provided they hire and live among my family.


Item I will and bequeath to MY NEPHEW JOHN HALLEY a bond of seventy pounds which I have against him.


Item the residue of my slaves stock household furniture and all other utensials I leave to be sold to the highest bidder for cash and the money arising from the sale to be equally divided among all my brothers and sisters children. I do hereby APPOINT MY NEPHEWS RICHARD, WILLIAM AND AARON SIMPSON MY SOUL EXECUTORS of this my last will and Testament Moses Simpson

At Court held 15th January 1787 This Will was presented in Court by RICHARD SIMPSON and WILLIAM SIMPSON .. who made oath thereto and the same being proved .. is admitted to record and the said Executors having performed what the Law requires, a Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof ..
