conveys 2 negroes, 3 horses, 13 cattle, 32 hogs, 4 beds, etc. If Oliver Simpson
fails to pay John Simpson the $1000 due, William GARRETT is authorized to sell

This indenture made 4-26-1845 between Oliver Simpson of the 1st part and Lancelot JOHNSTON and
Joseph W. NEAL of the 2nd part and HENRY BRANNOCK and John SIMPSON of the 3rd
part, all of N. C. Witnesseth: that where as Oliver Simpson is indebted to
Henry BRANNOCK for $4253,99 due 4-26-1846, for $2126.94 due 4-26-1847; also
whereas Oliver Simpson is indebted to John SIMPSON for $500 due 4-30-1847,
therefore Oliver Simpson delivered to Lancelot JOHNSON and Joseph W. NEAL
certain negroes which they are to sell to the highest bidder and the receipts
are to be applied to the aforesaid debts. Twenty-two negroes are named: 3
males 20 to 25 years old, 3 males 1 to 4 years old; one female 50 years old, 5
females 20 to 35 years old, and 10 females 1 to 12 years old. Stephen RICE and

This indenture made 2-24-1846 between
Samuel C. EDWARDS, Sheriff of Rockingham Co. and Joseph W. NEAL, witnesseth:
that by virtue of an order to sell issued by the County Court of Rockingham Co.
in the name of Joseph W. NEAL, plaintiff, against Oliver SIMPSON, defendant, for
$2054 with interest from 6-24-1845, therefore the said Sheriff sold 12-22-1845
at public sale to Joseph W. NEAL, the highest bidder, 8 slaves for a total of
$2121 which sum was paid to the Sheriff by Joseph W. NEAL and the Sheriff
delivered the slaves to NEAL.
