This room is used as a memorial for Mitsue in Teruko's home - Mitsue's bones (not ashes) are interred here for 49 days. Priests visit the home daily during this traditional period of mourning. In addition, there are parties held in remembrance of Mitsue 7 days after her death, 49 days (when her bones are removed to a cemetery), 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, 13 years, 17 years, 23 years, 27 years, 33 years, 37 years, then 50 years after her death.
