ministers. Rev. Thomas McConnell Johnston was one of the first Presbyterian ministers in California. He arrived in 1859 from
Missouri.

Eleanor arrived in California in 1860 with 4 children and she is known as the first woman to come to California
by stagecoach. The 4 children were Finis, Rebecca Ann, John and William. Rebecca Ann was 15 years old when she made this stagecoach trip
and recounted her fascinating and harrowing story for a newspaper article.
