  Note Both Rev. Thomas McConnell Johnston and his brother, Rev. David McConnell Johnston, were Cumberland Presbyterian ministers. Rev. Thomas McConnell Johnston was one of the first Presbyterian ministers in California. He arrived in 1859 from Missouri.

  Note Eleanor arrived in California in 1860 with 4 children and she is known as the first woman to come to California by stagecoach. The 4 children were Finis, Rebecca Ann, John and William. Rebecca Ann was 15 years old when she made this stagecoach trip and recounted her fascinating and harrowing story for a newspaper article.
